Loved your whitewater experience? Looking for a fun, active way to make money, make memories, and travel the world with your skill? Come be a whitewater rafting guide for Sierra Whitewater! Perfect for a summer job or a seasonal worker!

  • 6 days of training on the American River
  • Certification of Guide Training Completion (some companies require additional forms of certification, dependent upon company)
  • Knowledge and skills to be a whitewater guide on Class III and III+ rivers
  • Training includes guide training, safety training, equipment and water tutorials, as well as the basics of working for a whitewater company
  • Employment is not guaranteed, but if interested speak to guide school instructors during training

Trip Details

  • Price: $600
  • Seasonality April 6-11, 2020 (Meet Time @ 8:30am Monday morning- weekly schedule to be delivered on Monday)
  • Meeting: River's Bend; 6400 CA-49, Coloma CA
  • Trip Specs: Each day will be different and build upon the day before. Trainees begin their training by learning how rapids are formed and how water moves as they participate in a 'typical' whitewater rafting trip, as the training continues trainees will learn not only how to safely guide rafts through rapids ranging in Class I-III+ but also how to safely navigate whitewater, work with clients, learn about equipment operations and construction, and the basics of being a whitewater rafting guide on the South Fork of the American River. We will also train on additional rivers dependent upon weather and flows.
  • Included: 6 days of full immersion training with highly qualified whitewater guides and staff; lunch (we require 72 hours notice of any dietary restrictions) will be provided daily; equipment for training purposes; wetsuits
  • Not Included: Personal equipment not included; Gear will be provided for the duration of the training however to be an employed guide you must purchase a personal PFD and helmet (staff can help with this process during training)
  • What to Wear:
    • Layered Clothing Appropriate for Swimming (NO Denim, Cotton)

    • Under Armour, Nylon, Wool Are Appropriate

    • Shoes Connected to Your Feet (Tennis shoes, Chacos, Tevas, etc)

    • Change of Clothes for After

•This experience is non-refundable.
•Attendance for all 6 days is required for receiving a completion certificate
•If you miss a day, make up days are subject to availability and might not be possible; this is subject to the discretion of management
